This week in local shopping, Circa Vintage reopens its doors, the Walker’s Jewelry Artist Mart returns, and local designers open their studios at Art Attack.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST

Circa Vintage Grand Reopening

Vintage and resale shop Circa recently reopened its doors in a new spot across the street from its former location, and it’s celebrating with a grand reopening party. Beloved by local stylists like Grant Whittaker, the shop owned by Laura McPhillips has long been a go-to for the serious vintage junkie. The evening also launches the new in-house clothing line by local designer MARS and includes markdowns all day, drawings or prizes including a $100 gift card, and an appearance by Whittaker.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST

Silvercocoon Mini Shop Launch Party

Tia Salmela Keobounpheng of local jewelry line Silvercocoon – known for its ultra-mod aesthetic and laser-cut felt and plastic elements – will be opening a mini shop just in time for the holiday season at Danish Teak Classics (studio #277) at Northeast’s Northrup King Building as part of the building’s First Thursdays open studio night. The mini shop will be open First Thursdays in November and December, select weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas and by appointment via tia@silvercocoon.com.

Art Attack: Local Jewelry Open Studios

5-10 pm Friday, noon-8 pm Saturday, noon-5 pm Sunday / FREE

What: Get your fill of hand-crafted art, jewelry and crafts at this weekend’s Art Attack – an open studio featuring over 200 artists working in painting and drawing, sculpture, photography, architecture, custom furniture, fiber arts, metal, ceramics, glass, hand-crafted and custom jewelry, mixed media, mosaics, textiles, and more. Fashion highlights should include jewelry and accessories designer Karin Jacobson (studio #288), who’ll be hosting screenprinter Sean Tubridy and painter Berry Holz as well as debuting some new pieces and new lower-priced items. Jewelry designers Susan Frerichs, Betty Jäger, Britta Kauppila share a studio, and they’ll be offering their latest pieces (#435). Stop by next door to visit their former studio mate Emily Johnson (#436). BONUS: Get a jump on the goods by stopping by the monthly First Thursdays open studio from 5-9 pm this Thursday.

The Walker’s biannual Jewelry Artist Mart gathers its bevy of art-geared, handcrafted jewelry lines showcased its its Shop for a day-long trunk show this weekend. The more than 20 artists include locals Robyne Robinson, Annika Kaplan, Tia Keobounpheng, Bridget Clark and Yen Chee, plus a selection of national and international lines. The member preview includes 10 percent off, first pick and refreshments.
